English abolitionist (1760-1846) who was a leading campaigner against the slave trade in the British Empire. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7.25, July 9, 1845. Handwritten letter concerning his abolitionist activities, in part: "If you will call yourself at Barnetts House & Co. Bankers…they will give you 5£ for our Antislavery Society—as 100£ has been taken off my yearly income from the Scotch dividends, I can only send you 5£ instead of my former sum of £10." In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds and scattered staining.
