Description

Six TLSs signed “Joan” or “Love, Joan,” each one page, 6.25 x 7 and 6.25 x 9.75, dated between 1952 and 1975, each addressed to famed Hollywood publicist John Springer. Samples from each include:

July 26, 1952: “I keep reading that Barbara Stanwyck and I are going to do SIZE 12, and then Bette Davis and me—I’ll probably pick up the paper and find out that Cliquot is the next one cast.”

September 23, 1952: “Honey, what the hell ever happened about the Leo Marks’ story with Dorothea McEvoy? Not that I care, but shouldn’t it have been returned to somebody?”

April 25, 1955: “I am so tied up with ‘Queen Bee,’ trying to finish it, and so extremely tired with two pictures in a row, that I am heading to Europe on a slow boat for some much needed rest.”

February 1, 1965: “Please have your secretary send me the address of Jack Jones, so that I can thank him for the lovely evening—also his wife’s first name.”

November 15, 1973: “I am delighted that you and Hal Prince have thought of me seriously for a role in the picture. And, congratulations on your first film. I think it will be great for you.”

March 10, 1975: “Your future plans sound very exciting—what with Bette, Roz, Lana AND Gene Kelly—Wow!” In overall fine condition. Accompanied by two original mailing envelopes, one of which is hand-addressed by Crawford.
