Vintage glossy 7.5 x 9.5 publicity photo of actress June Allyson and Armstrong as they appeared in the 1954 film The Glenn Miller Story, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Mervin, Best wishes, Louis Armstrong," who adds over his image and the bench, "Satchmo, Audrey," and "Good luck, Velma Middleton.” Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 13.5 x 16.5. In very good to fine condition, with scattered creasing, and light silvering to the darker areas of the image.
Middleton was a noted jazz vocalist and entertainer (1917-1961) who joined Louie Armstrong's big band in 1942, and appeared with him in soundies. When Armstrong's orchestra disbanded in 1947, Middleton joined his All-Stars, a smaller group. She was often used for comic relief, such as for duets with Armstrong on 'That's My Desire' and 'Baby, It's Cold Outside.'
