(Walt Disney Studios, 1959) Magnificent original concept painting by Eyvind Earle for Sleeping Beauty, in which the film’s iconic castle is seen from the perspective of a distant observer emerging from a forest. Tree trunks thick and thin dominate the darker foreground, and the shining white castle appears almost floating on the distant hilltop against a pink sky. Accomplished in gouache on 12.5 x 6 artist's board, and signed in the lower right corner in purple paint, "Eyvind Earle." In fine condition, with tack holes to corners. A stylish, detailed fairy tale painting by Earle with his trademark flora and marvelous use of space and color.
