(Walt Disney Studios, 1955) Exquisite original panorama concept storyboard painting by Eyvind Earle from Lady and the Tramp, showing the title canines walking on a park sidewalk during the iconic 'Bella Notte' sequence. In his distinctive style, Earle captures the nighttime scene with a charming sense of secrecy and isolation, centrally placing the dogs to emphasize their growing bond amid a jealous crowd of large trees and ferns. True to the film, Earle adds a touch of humor with the placement of a ‘Wet Cement’ sign and the telltale paw prints left by Lady and Tramp, who then stop at a fresh heart symbol—likewise recently made by a passing couple—before adding to it marks of their own. In the movie, the heart is engraved with ‘JM’ and ‘EB,’ which many believe are the initials for Lady’s owners, Jim and Elizabeth Brown. Accomplished in tempera on 21 x 9 artist's board, signed in the lower right corner in silver graphite by Earle. In fine condition, with tack holes to corners. Disney artist Eyvind Earle, who later became Sleeping Beauty's production designer, created almost 50 miniature concept sketches for the 'Bella Notte' sequence and was a key contributor to the classic film.
