(Walt Disney Studios, 1950) Exquisite original concept painting by Mary Blair featuring Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother from Cinderella, showing the Fairy Godmother magically constituting Cinderella's ball gown. Expertly rendered in pinks and grays, the detailed scene is set in a moonlit pumpkin patch as three mice observe Cinderella's transformation from scullion to princess. Accomplished in tempera on 10 x 9.75 illustration board. In fine condition, with tack holes to corners. An attractive and well-composed piece by the prolific Disney concept artist.
Blair was a concept artist for Disney during the 1940s and early 1950s, working on designs for such films as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. She also created designs for several Disney attractions (including It's a Small World), and her largest work ever, the multi-story mosaic in Disney World's Contemporary Hotel concourse.
