English gardener and architect best known for designing The Crystal Palace (1803-1865). ALS, one page, 7.25 x 9, [no date but annotated 1842 in pencil]. Handwritten letter from Chatsworth, in part: "We have excellent plants of the specimens you have been good enough to name nevertheless I am much obliged to you for having mentioned them. Pray tell your father I shall be very happy to see him at Chatsworth as well as yourself, and whenever I got within any moderate distance to Canterbury depend on seeing me." In fine condition, with a couple tiny edge tears.
