Scottish geologist (1792-1871) who was the first to investigate the Silurian system. ALS signed “Rod. I. Murchison,” one page, 4.5 x 7.5, March 21, 1843. Handwritten letter to "Mr. Woodward" of the Geological Society, in full: "Do not send the Mss. to the Soc'y…today…as I shall call at…about 3 or 4 o'clock." In fine condition, with a rusty circular paperclip impression to the top, and some mounting remnants and paper loss to the integral leaf.
