Important surveyor, mapmaker, and explorer of Southeastern Australia (1792-1855) who served as Surveyor General of New South Wales from 1828 until his death. Scarce ALS signed “T. L. Mitchell,” one page, 6.75 x 6.5, no date. Handwritten letter, in part: "I thank you very much for your obliging letter—and for the card of Admission to the Museum of the Royal Asiatic Society which accompanied it…I have promised Lady M. a sight of the Museum when I have that pleasure." Affixed to a slightly larger sheet and in fine condition.
