Cultural anthropologist (1901-1978) who featured frequently as an author and speaker in the mass media during the 1960s and 1970s. Her reports detailing the attitudes towards sex in South Pacific and Southeast Asian traditional cultures influenced the 1960s sexual revolution. Four items signed by Margaret Mead, including: a TLS on American Museum of Natural History letterhead, October 10, 1967 ( "I am enclosing in this letter the autographed photograph you requested"); a vintage glossy 3.25 x 4 photo, signed in the lower border in ballpoint, "Margaret Mead, 1967"; a glossy 4 x 5 portrait, signed in the lower border in black felt tip; and a color glossy 7 x 3.5 photo of Mead during a film shoot on the island of Manus, inscribed in another and signed in black felt tip, "Filming in Manus, 1967, Happy New Year, Margaret Mead," who credits the photo to Richard Leiterman.
