English rear-admiral and Arctic explorer (1790-1855) best known for his 1819-1820 expedition through the Parry Channel, probably the most successful in the long quest for the Northwest Passage. ALS signed “W. Parry,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 7 x 9, April 18, 1829. Handwritten letter to famed Arctic explorer John Franklin, in part: "No letters have yet reached me for you…I write, therefore, merely to say that, on our mutual business, nothing more has transpired, nor indeed is any-thing more likely to transpire till your return. I was much pleased with our visit to Ross's Ship, and am to meet him at Beauforts at dinner on Monday." In fine condition.
