Description

American aeronaut and inventor (1832-1913) whose Union balloon corps tracked enemy movements during the Civil War, known as the father of military aerial reconnaissance in the United States. Partly-printed DS, signed “T. S. C. Lowe,” one page, 7.5 x 3, October 29, 1868. Promissory note, in part: "Sixty days after date I promise to pay to the order of James T. Ames One Thousand Dollars." Signed at the conclusion in ink by Lowe, and affixed to a notarized protest document from the Importers' and Traders' National Bank. In fine condition.
