Description

American jazz pianist and bandleader (1903-1983), who is considered one of the most influential figures in the development of jazz piano; his big band during the late 1920s consisted of legendary players like Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. Bandleader Count Basie once said that Hines was, 'the greatest piano player in the world.' Vintage glossy 8 x 10 Associated Booking Corp. publicity photo of the smiling jazzman, signed and inscribed in fountain pen to MGM studio hairdresser June Roberts, "To June, Yours Sincerely, 'Lest We Forget,' Earl 'Fatha' Hines.” In fine condition, with scattered light creasing, and some light brushing to the ink. Hines appeared along with Louis Amrstrong and Jack Teagarden in MGM's 1951 musical melodrama The Strip.
