Archive of over 100 pages of letters and documents from the naval career of Robert Rohange, dating from 1889 to 1921, highlighted by two TLSs by Theodore Roosevelt. The first, signed "T. Roosevelt" as acting secretary of the Navy, is one page on Navy Department letterhead, August 26, 1897, in part: "You are hereby detached from duty on board the U.S.S. Monongahela, will proceed to Norfolk, Va., and report to the Commandant of the Navy Yard at that place, for duty on board the U.S.R.S. Franklin at that Yard." The second, also signed "T. Roosevelt" as acting secretary of the Navy, is one page on Navy Department letterhead, August 30, 1897, instead orders him to New York to report for duty on the U.S.R.S. Vermont. Among the many other documents are various reports, orders, and letters, with notable signers including Richard Worsam Meade III, John Davis Long, John E. Pillsbury, and Josephus Daniels. Also includes some later WWII-era documentation regarding Valentine P. Rohange. In overall very good condition, with soiling, staining, creasing, and edge chipping.
