Description

Partly-printed DS, signed "William H. Seward," one page, 15.25 x 10, August 15, 1839. As Governor of New York, Seward appoints Thomas Lewis to be "ensign in the 9th Regiment of Infantry." Signed at the conclusion by Governor Seward and countersigned by Adjutant General Rufus King. In fine condition, with trivial paper loss and toning and the intersecting folds.
