Description

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Rhode Island (1727-1820). Manuscript DS, signed twice, “William Ellery junr,” one page, 11.75 x 7.5, September 22, 1761. Document relating to a debt owed to Ellery by William Taylor of St. Ann's, Jamaica, detailing a robust bill of £1412 for various items, including "your board," "an horse," "a billiard table," and "your & your Negroes Passage from Jamaica to this place." Ellery signs as part of the heading and at the conclusion. In fine condition. Accompanied by a manuscript receipt in another hand for payment received from Ellery for Taylor's horse-keeping and "2 Dolphins" of cheese, dated December 31, 1759.
