TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, personal Congress of the United States letterhead, July 28, 1943. Letter to Mamye Kelly, in part: "You are certainly right about it being a woman's prerogative to change her mind and I would be very happy if you would use that prerogative to change your mind and stay. I know that you are going to miss your friends but I want to take this opportunity to tell you that I will miss you and your cheerful and inspiring letters very much. You have done a great job there and I am sure your friends will regret your leaving Oakalla, and hope that you will hurry back. I hope you will write to me real often and keep me informed on how you like California and how you are getting along." In fine condition.
