TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland letterhead, January 15, 1924. Letter to friend and business associate Colonel Edgar A. Hamilton, in part: "I want to call your attention to some interesting figures relating to depository bonds running to the State of New York, which I have received from the office of the State Treasurer, Honorable George K. Shuler, Albany. The following figures related only to the first six companies—17 other companies have written depository bonds for the State, but they are all much smaller amounts…You will note from the above that the F & D Co. has gained over $3,000,000, the National Surety only $684,000 while the American and U.S.F. & C. Co. have both lost over $1,000,000 each and the Aetna has lost over $700,000. From being in 4th place by over $1,000,000, we are now in 3rd place and nearly $4,000,000 ahead of the next company. I hope that within the next year we will pass the American and continue to gain on the National." In fine condition.
