Wilberforce,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.25 x 7.25, November 16. Handwritten letter, in part: "I was not a little vexed at having been yesterday prevented executing my full intention of writing to you, to communicate the glad tiding conveyed to me in a Letter from ye Duke of Wellington which tho dated ye 4th Inst. was not brought till Sunday…They are—that the French have actually issued the order prohibiting all French subjects slaving anywhere to the North of Cape…which is to ye East of ye Bight of Benin. This secures an extent of coast of above 1500 miles from ye most dangerous enemies." In fine condition, with a small hole to the last page.
