American financier (1786-1844) and president of the Bank of the United States. ALS signed “N. Biddle Pres't,” one page, 7.75 x 10, August 27, 1823. Handwritten letter to Caesar Augustus Rodney, written from the "Bank of the United States," in part: "I had yesterday the pleasure of receiving your letter…and immediately directed the inclosed account to be prepared in such a manner as might enable you to judge whether there are still any of your checks outstanding. The present balance is, as you will perceive, eight hundred & forty five dollars and twelve cents." In fine condition. Rodney was the nephew of Declaration signer Caesar Rodney, and at this time had just been appointed as United States Minister to Argentina.
