US Navy admiral during World War II (1886-1969) remembered for commanding forces during the Battle of Midway and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. Vintage glossy 7.75 x 10 head-and-shoulders photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Robert Viehlman, C.B.M., U.S.N. (Ret.), with best wishes from Raymond A. Spruance, Admiral, U.S.N. (Ret.), Manila, 25 March 1954.” In very good to fine condition, with scattered small surface impressions.
