American United States Air Force general (1912-2002) who served as commander of the World War II Tuskegee Airmen. ALS signed “Ben Davis,” one page, 8.5 x 11, January 12, 1995. Handwritten letter regarding his autobiography, in part: "Please order a copy of my autobiography from The Smithsonian Institution Press…My autobiography is 400 plus pages long and you will find in it detailed answers to all of your questions. I also suggest your local library as a source. Title is Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., American." In fine condition, with a block of light toning to the upper left. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope panel, addressed in Davis's hand and incorporating his signature ("Gen. Ben Davis") in the return address.
