Uncommon vintage matte-finish 8 x 11 portrait of the publishing magnate in later age, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Doctor Harry Martin, with high appreciation of his friendship, William Randolph Hearst.” In fine condition, with trimming to the edges affecting the start of the inscription and the first letter of the signature. Harry Martin was a urologist and the third husband of Hollywood gossip columnist and screenwriter Louella Parsons, a long time writer for Hearst's various publications. Martin became medical director of Twentieth Century Fox studios in 1937, where he performed abortions and dispensed stimulant drugs to the actors, as needed, to keep them alert while films were being shot.
