Prussian soldier (1730-1794) who provided invaluable aid to the American Revolution, joining George Washington at Valley Forge. Scarce ADS, signed “Steuben,” one page, 8 x 4.5, January 22, 1794. Handwritten document issued to Collector B. Walker, in full: "Sir, Please to pay to the bearer the Sum of one hundred & twenty Dollars, for a Note Given by me to Mr. Jacob Cuyler & becoming Due at this Day." Signed neatly at the conclusion by Friedrich von Steuben. The page is affixed to a slightly larger mount. In fine condition, with light toning from prior display. Accompanied by an engraved portrait bearing a facsimile signature.
