Last reigning monarch of the Hawaiian islands (1838-1917) who actively pursued the preservation of the islands for their native residents; an accomplished author, songwriter, and musician, she wrote numerous songs and chants including 'Aloha Oe.' Extremely rare 5 x 9 mounted albumen photo of Hawaii's queen in an outstanding full-length pose, signed at the bottom of the image in ink, "Liliuokalani." In fine condition, with scattered light foxing, and trimmed top and bottom edges.
