Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of Garfield seated and enjoying a pipe, an open book, and a plate of walnuts, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Arthur—Good luck—John Garfield.” Reverse of photo dated to April 21, 1942. In very good to fine condition, with a couple creases and short tears to edges. A month after this photo was signed, Garfield co-starred alongside Spencer Tracy, Hedy Lamarr, Frank Morgan, Akim Tamiroff, and Sheldon Leonard in Tortilla Flat, a film adaptation of John Steinbeck's 1935 novel.
