Two copies of Ken Kesey's Last Go Round: A Real Western: one is a first edition published by Viking in 1994, hardcover with dust jacket, signed on the first free end page in gold liquid ink, "Ken Kesey"; and the second is an advance uncorrected proof copy from Viking, bound in glossy pictorial wraps with front marked as "Not For Sale," impressively signed and inscribed on the half-title page in red and purple felt tip, "For Matt, Ken Kesey," with Kesey decorating the page with star stamps and applied magazine strips that depict a horse’s head. In overall fine condition. Not to play down the boldly signed first edition, but the advance copy with its multi-medium avant garde artwork, and which assuredly took Kesey ample time to complete, is a must-have example that whimsically represents the author’s unique mind and artistry. The first edition is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Key-Z Productions, signed by Stephanie Kesey. Consignor notes that he had a longstanding friendship with Kesey through the mail.
