Description

Promising boxer (1904-1933), known as King of the Canebrakes, who knocked out 125 opponents (a record topped only by Archie Moore). He died in a motorcycle accident at the age of 28. Two items: a fountain pen signature," Very best wishes, W. L. Stribling, Jr.," on an off-white 4.25 x 2 sheet; and a vintage glossy 3.5 x 5 promotional photo of Young Stribling in a boxing pose, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To my pal, Teddy Georg, Best wishes, W. L. Stribling, Jr." Both are matted and framed together to an overall size of 8.75 x 12. In overall fine condition, with a slightly trimmed bottom edge to the photo.
