From 1950 until 1979, David Rothstein’s Music Inn was an estate turned hippie-hangout that once housed the famed Lenox School of Jazz. During its three-decade-long run, the venue was dedicated to the ‘presentation and perpetuation of the American, particularly African-American, musical tradition,’ and hosted acts ranging from Louis Armstrong and Joan Baez to John Lee Hooker and the Kinks.
