Peruvian painter (1896-1982) of pin-up girls, remembered for his work with the Ziegfeld Follies, Esquire, and Playboy; he is widely considered the most famous of the pin-up artists. Vintage sepia glossy 6.5 x 4.5 photo of Vargas in his studio, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint to Reid Austin, "To Reid, The best friend an artist ever had, Alberto.” Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 12.25 x 10.25; the frame's backing bears a presentation inscription by Austin, author of the 1984 book Vargas, which featured a foreword by Hugh Hefner.
