Canadian-American artist and sideshow performer (1855-1930) known as the 'Armless Wonder,' who toured with P. T. Barnum and the Ringling Brothers for much of his adult life; though born without arms, he learned to use his legs and feet to perform everyday tasks, becoming a skilled carpenter and calligrapher. Scarce 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo of Tripp showing off his unique calligraphic skill, signed on the reverse in ink, "Charles B. Tripp, Woodstock, Ontario, Age 32 yrs, Oct. 26, '87." In fine condition, with some light soiling and toning to the signed side.
