Description

French mathematician (1746-1818) and the father of differential geometry. LS in French, signed twice, “Monge,” one page, 7 x 9.25, November 29, 1792. Letter to the "Ministre de la Marine" at Antibes, volunteering to go there to "temporarily occupy the hydrographic position of that city." Signed at the conclusion by Monge, who adds a three-line handwritten postscript. He signs again at the end of the postscript. In fine condition.
