Description

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Pennsylvania (1739-1813) who served as the first president of the Philadelphia Bank. ALS signed “Geo. Clymer,” one page both sides, 4 x 8, June 9, 1777. Handwritten letter to his agent, Thomas Hale, in part: "Your information of my having an Interest in an Estate of David Thompson's in Southwark is right—It is a Ground Rend renewed on the Lot whereon he lived of 66 2/3 Silver Dollars…The Rent commenced the 1 Sept. 1770, and is all in arrear excepting £51 the only payment Thomson made me—The Ground included in his Lease is in Breadth 100 feet at the Distance of 355 feet from the East Side of Front Street and carrying its Breadth into the Delaware." Includes a hand-drawn map of the lot in question. In very good to fine condition, with toning along folds, and minor edge loss.
