King of Great Britain and Ireland (1765-1837) from 1830 to 1837, he earned the sobriquet 'Sailor King' for his youthful service in the Royal Navy. ALS signed “William,” one page, 7.25 x 9.25, December 31, 1802. Interesting handwritten letter to a gentleman, concerning the First Lord of the Admiralty. In part: "His conduct to you has been the same as it has been is and will be to others: in short Sir John Jervis Earl St. Vincent or Marine Minister, he has art and deceit, and as you justly observe I am afraid no good will be done by him. No one can feel more than I do for your unmerited cruel situation, believe me, it is want of power, and not want of inclination that prevents me from saving you: however the time must come when I shall be able." In fine condition.
