TLS as president signed “Jerry Ford,” one page, 6.75 x 9, White House letterhead, August 29, 1974. Letter to Newbold Noyes, editor of the Washington Star-News, sent just three weeks after Ford took office as president following Richard Nixon's resignation. In full: "As a part of my avowed role as a communicator, I thought I would let you know that I had read with appreciation the Star-News' assessment of my speech Monday night. As we both agree, we have come through a difficult and tragic period, and there is a lot of work in front of us. The American people have a deserved reputation of pitching in and putting matters to right when the going is hard. This will be no exception, I am confident." In fine condition, with staple holes to the upper left corner.
