Description

First two issues of Taking Dope, a self-published fanzine founded by Dee Dee Ramone and underground cartoonist and writer John Holmstrom. Both DIY issues are stapled and measure 8.5 x 11, with the first 16-page issue dated to August 1996, and the second 20-page issue dated to September 1996. Both fanzines contain introductory update letters from Dee Dee, in addition to sundry lyrics, diary entries, sketches, and pictures of family, friends, and band members. In overall fine condition.

John Holmstrom is an American underground cartoonist and writer (born 1954) who is best known for illustrating the covers of the Ramones albums Rocket to Russia and Road to Ruin. He was the founding editor of Punk Magazine, served as the president and publisher of High Times magazine, and worked for several other publications, including The Village Voice, Video Games magazine, K-Power, and Heavy Metal.
