Description

American surveyor and civil engineer (1811-1887) who specialized in mapping the United States as an officer in the Army Corps of Topographical Engineers; during the Civil War, he commanded a brigade in the Army of the Potomac. Civil War-dated partly-printed DS, signed “W. H. Emory,” one page, 26 x 8.25, July 10, 1862. Document headed "Consolidated Morning Report of First Brigade of Peck's Division, Commanded by Brig. Gen'l W. H. Emory," listing the companies stationed near Harrison's Landing, Virginia. The remarks record one death and seven men discharged. In fine condition.
