Description

ALS signed “Fr. Pierce,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4 x 6.25, no date. Handwritten letter to Charles S. Davis, in full: "This note will be handed to you in the morning, and is sent to bid you good bye to express my warm wishes for an agreeable journey and to explain a seeming neglect . Edward did not deliver your note of this morning, but placed it upon my office table and hence it was brought to my notice a few minutes since when I returned from meeting. If you meet our friends in Boston as I trust you will, I beg you to present to them my best regards—will you also remember me kindly to Mrs. Davis & your sons & to Ms. Anna Pierce when you see her." In fine condition, with show-through from tape on the reverse.
