Partly-printed DS, signed “C. A. Arthur,” one page, 8.25 x 7.5, June 21, 1875. Loyalty oath sworn before Arthur, in part: "I, Thomas Barry, do solemnly swear, that I have never voluntarily borne arms against the United States since I have been a citizen thereof…I do further swear that, to the best of my knowledge and ability, I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic." Boldly signed at the conclusion by Arthur as collector. In very good to fine condition, with toning, soiling, a small hole to the upper left corner, and splits to ends of the horizontal fold.
