Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 18 x 13, August 3, 1939. President Roosevelt appoints Howard L. Doyle of Illinois an "Attorney of the United States in and for the Southern District of Illinois." Signed boldly at the conclusion by Franklin D. Roosevelt, and countersigned by Attorney General Frank Murphy. Original Department of Justice seal remains affixed to the lower lower left. Archivally framed to an overall size of 22.5 x 17. In very good to fine condition, with obvious staining over much of the document, affecting appearance, but not FDR's bold signature.
