Description

Sought-after partly-printed DS, one page, 15.25 x 9.5, August 31, 1795. Governor Adams appoints Josiah Hall as "Captain of a Company in the fifth Regiment of the First Brigade, Seventh Division of the Militia of this Commonwealth." Signed below the embossed seal in crisp ink by Samuel Adams, and countersigned below by John Avery, Jr., the first Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth. Archivally mounted, matted, and framed to an overall size of 22 x 16.5. In very good to fine condition, with scattered stains, and possible repairs to fold splits.
