Secretary of State Buchanan transmits an official copy of correspondence of the Continental Congress

Partly-printed DS, one page, 7.5 x 9.75, December 13, 1847. As secretary of state, Buchanan certifies "that the paper hereunto attached is a true copy of an original letter of B. Lincoln to His Excellency Samuel Huntington President in Congress which is presented in this Department in No. 158 of the papers of the Continental Congress transcribed from and carefully collated with said original letter." The white paper seal affixed to the left remains intact; the annexed letter is no longer present. Mounted and framed to an overall size of 11 x 13.25. In very good to fine condition, with some light creasing, and paper loss to the lower left corner.
