President Fillmore appoints "a Midshipman in the Navy"

Partly-printed DS, signed “M. Van Buren,” one page, 10 x 7, April 30, 1864. President Van Buren appoints Henry S. Newcomb as "a Midshipman in the Navy of the United States." Signed at the conclusion by President Van Buren and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy James K. Paulding. Mounted, matted, and framed to an overall size of 17 x 14. In fine condition, with some light creasing to the left edge.
