Soviet test pilot, aerospace engineer, and cosmonaut (1927-1964) who was the first human to die during a space mission. On his second flight, Soyuz 1, he was killed during the descent when the spacecraft crashed due to failure of the parachute. Color vintage 4 x 5.75 Soviet postcard photo of the ill-fated cosmonaut, signed in the lower border in fountain pen by Vladimir Komarov. A later postage stamp with cancelation has been affixed above the signature. In very fine condition.
