Reporting on Sir Guy Carleton's evacuation of New York, with notes on treaty negotiations abroad

The Providence Gazette and Country Journal, September 27, 1783, printed by John Carter. His Majesty’s speech to both houses of Parliament on July 6, 1783, addressing “the terms of pacification” which involved complications and protracted negotiations among the several powers concerned. Indian affairs, including a report from Fort-Nelson that the “Indians have been very peaceable in the Kentuckey country.” Ordinance, translated from the French, concerning trade among the Colonies and French territories, dated July 23, 1783. “Treaties of commerce with America, we hear, are signed by the Courts of Portugal and Denmark. Copy of letter from Sir Guy Carleton to the President of Congress concerning final orders for the evacuation of New York, and complaining that: “The violence is in the Americans, which broke out soon after the cessation of hostilities." Report from Holland about Mr. Adams’ success in negotiating a loan of Five Million Guilders, and noting a special contract between Dr. Franklin and Count de Vergennes for Six Million Livres to the United States.
