Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Connecticut (1731-1796) and seventh president of the Continental Congress. Partly-printed DS, signed “Sam'l Huntington,” one page, 12 x 7.5, October 17, 1793. As governor of Connecticut, Huntington appoints Asa Butt "to be Ensign of the fifth Company of Militia in the 21st Regiment of said State." Prominently signed at the conclusion by Governor Huntington and countersigned by George Wyllys. The embossed white paper seal affixed to the left side remains intact. In very good to fine condition, with light staining and toning, and paper loss to the top edge.
