Description

TLS as president signed “H.S.T.,” one page, 8 x 10.5, White House letterhead, January 23, 1947. A typed memorandum from President Truman to Secretary of the Treasury John W. Snyder, in full: "Sometime ago I had some correspondence with Nunan in regard to the Collector of Internal Revenue in Helena, Montana. He told me some of the facts about the situation but Senator Murray and Congressman Mansfield continue to press for the retirement of the present Collector and the appointment of a man friendly to them. I am of the opinion that there is some justification in their attitude. I'll appreciate it if you will discuss the matter with Nunan and see if it can't be worked out so as not to hurt the present Collector and still satisfy Murray and Mansfield." In fine condition.
