Mailing envelope, 5.5 x 3.25, addressed in the hand of Alexander H. Stephens to his half-brother "Linton Stephens, Esqr., Crawfordville, Ga.," and franked in the upper right, "Free, Alexander H. Stephens, MC." Pencil notation to reverse dates the envelope to January 29, 1848, when Stephens was serving as a Georgian congressman. In very good to fine condition, with light soiling, and staining to the top edge.
