Brother (1915-1944) of John F. Kennedy who served as a bomber pilot during WWII; he was tragically killed due to an airplane malfunction while flying a secret mission. World War II-dated ALS, signed "Joe Kennedy," one page both sides, 7 x 10.5, U.S. Naval Air Station letterhead, August 22, 1941. Handwritten letter to Mr. John Bratton Davis, who Kennedy affectionately refers to as "Brat," in part: "Thanks very much for the picture. I am stationed down here at the present, but I may be sent on to Corpus Christi any day. I am hoping however to be stationed here to finish my course. Tom Phillips has joined the Naval Air Corps in Calif., and we are trying to get together—which ought to make it a lot of fun. Best of luck…and I will certainly stop in and see you if I am around South Carolina way." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original hand-addressed mailing envelope.
