Born Brian Donnelly in 1974, KAWS began his career as a graffiti artist and animator. His 'Companions'—clown-like figures based on Mickey Mouse, with Xs on eyes and hands, and two bones sticking out of the head—have soared in popularity since being introduced in 1999. Scarce and sought-after 'BFF Companion' blue vinyl doll executed by KAWS in 2017, sold exclusively at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City. One of the larger vinyl editions KAWS has released, this BFF doll measures 13″ tall. The feet are stamped, "KAWS..17, Open Edition" and "Medicom Toy, China." Sealed in its original packaging and in fine to very fine condition.
